Choosing Heat for a Surprise Home

Surprise winters are mild, and that shapes what makes sense to install. A heating system here runs for a few months a year while the cooling side runs for most of it. Furnace installation in Surprise is usually best planned together with the air conditioner, because in most homes built during the city’s 2000s growth the two were installed at the same time and are now the same age.

The Options

  • Gas furnace and split AC. Strong, fast heat where the house already has gas. The furnace and the indoor coil share the same cabinet and blower.
  • Heat pump. One outdoor unit for cooling and heating. If both the furnace and the AC are due, one heat pump can replace them.
  • Dual fuel. A heat pump for most heating days with a gas furnace for the coldest mornings, worth considering where gas is already in the house.

Sizing, Efficiency and Payback

We size heating by load calculation, never by the old furnace’s label. A high-efficiency condensing furnace needs a condensate drain and different venting, and with so few heating hours here the extra cost can take a long time to pay back. We price the standard and high-efficiency options side by side so you can choose.

Installed to Code

On a gas installation we check the gas line, the flue and venting and the combustion air, and test for carbon monoxide at startup. The City of Surprise permits the work through its Community Development office, and if your HOA reviews exterior equipment changes, we provide the details they need.

Common Questions

Is it worth replacing the furnace and AC together?

If both are from the same build year, usually yes. One installation costs less than two, and matched equipment works better together.

Is a heat pump enough heat for Surprise?

For most winter days, yes. Backup heat strips or a dual-fuel setup cover the few colder mornings.
