When the First Cold Night Arrives

A furnace in Surprise can go eight or nine months without running, and that long idle stretch is when parts dry out, dust settles and small problems start. The first cold night of the season is when they show up. Most furnace repair in Surprise comes down to a short list of parts, and most of them are fixed in one visit.

Common Problems

  • Flame sensor. Coated with dust, it cannot prove the flame, so the burners shut off after a few seconds.
  • Igniter. A cracked hot surface igniter means the furnace tries to start but never lights.
  • Inducer motor. If it does not run, the furnace will not try to light at all and the board shows a fault code.
  • High limit trips. A dirty filter or closed vents make the furnace overheat and shut down in short cycles.
  • Blower motor or capacitor. The burners heat but no air moves through the house.

Systems From the Growth Years

Many Surprise furnaces were installed when the house was built in the 2000s and are now 15 to 25 years old. Small parts on those systems are still routine repairs. A failed inducer, control board or heat exchanger on a furnace that age is where we price a replacement alongside the repair, so you can choose with both numbers.

Safety

If you smell gas, leave the house and call your gas utility from outside. If a carbon monoxide alarm sounds, get everyone out and call 911. We inspect the burners, the flue and the area around the heat exchanger on every repair visit.

Common Questions

What should I check before calling?

Thermostat set to heat with good batteries, the furnace switch on, the breaker not tripped and a clean filter. If it still will not heat, leave it off and call.

Do you repair heat pumps and packaged units?

Yes. We repair gas furnaces, heat pumps and packaged rooftop units throughout Surprise.
