Fixing the System That Runs All Year

Many homes use a heat pump for both cooling and heating, so it carries the full summer load and then the winter mornings too. That is a lot of running hours, and the parts that fail on a heat pump fail sooner here than in a milder climate. Heat pump repair in Surprise starts by testing the system in both modes, so a fault that only appears in heating does not get missed on a summer call.

What We Find Most Often

  1. Capacitors and contactors. Heat-stressed electrical parts that stop the compressor or fan from starting. Quick to replace.
  2. Refrigerant leaks. Weak cooling and heating and long run times. We locate and repair the leak rather than topping it off.
  3. Reversing valve. The system gets stuck in one mode or blows the wrong temperature.
  4. Defrost control. The outdoor coil ices up on a cold morning and does not clear.
  5. Dirty outdoor coil. Dust from construction and open land around the growing edges of the city packs the coil and makes everything work harder.

Repair or Replace

Many Surprise heat pumps are original to houses built in the 2000s. A capacitor, contactor or defrost board on one of those is still a sensible repair. A failed compressor or a leaking coil is where replacement usually wins, especially on an R-22 system, since R-22 has not been produced since January 1, 2020. R-410A heat pumps can still be serviced and charged; new equipment built since 2025 uses A2L refrigerants such as R-454B. We give you the diagnosis and both prices in writing.

Common Questions

Why does my heat pump run constantly in summer?

On the hottest days some long running is normal. If it runs constantly and the house still does not cool, it is usually low refrigerant, a dirty coil or a weak capacitor.

Is maintenance included if I replace it?

Yes. Every system we install includes three years of maintenance in the price.
